Kilowahti (kilowatti + vahti — "the kilowatt sentinel") is a Home Assistant integration for European electricity cost awareness and optimization — whether you are on a spot contract or a fixed rate.
It fetches day-ahead hourly or 15-minute spot prices, primarily from Kilowahti's own content delivery network (CDN), which fetches the data directly from ENTSO-E, and automatically falls back to spot-hinta.fi. It applies your VAT and, if you want, transfer pricing (e.g. separate day and night or seasonal tariffs), and exposes sensors, binary sensors, and services you can use in automations, dashboards, and energy management scripts.

- Day-ahead spot prices — no API key or other integration required, 15-minute or 1-hour resolution
- Transfer price groups and tiers with schedules and monthly fees
- Fixed-price contract period management — when a fixed period is active, the fixed price is automatically shown as the active price instead of the spot price
- Monthly electricity contract base fee spread as a daily cost sensor
Control
- Price rank, rank quartile, and total price rank sensors
- Control factor sensors (0–1 and bipolar ±1) for proportional automation
- Writable price and rank threshold number entities — adjust limits from the dashboard or automations without reopening configuration
- Optimization scores measuring how well consumption is shifted to cheap hours
- Rolling average sensors for the next 30/60/120 minutes (only with 15-minute prices)

Quick start
- Install from the Marketplace (Home Assistant 2026.11 and newer) or HACS (older versions)
- Start the setup wizard — the Marketplace opens it after installing; with HACS go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → Kilowahti
- Complete the setup wizard
- Use the sensors in your dashboards and automations
First setup walks through everything you need to get started in about ten minutes, including which wizard answers you can skip at first and how you build a first automation.
